At Native, we have a relentless mission to ensure that Personal Care products found in your bathroom should be made with simple yet effective ingredients you can understand. From that was born natural deodorants for women and men that are aluminum free, paraben free, cruelty free, vegan, and packed with probiotics. Later came natural body washes and natural toothpastes.
As our portfolio of products grew, the one thing that bothered our customers, our team, and me was the amount of plastic used in our products.
It frustrates me that businesses often wait for the perfect solution and set goals for 2030, 2040, and beyond. There is always an excuse. It's too expensive, or the customer experience isn’t perfect or there is an environmental tradeoff. In the end, there is a lot of debate and little action.
In the last year, we’ve seen an explosion in the number of questions we get about our plastic packaging. And now Native Plastic Free Deodorant is finally here! Thank you for asking and thank you for your patience.
When I joined Native in March 2020, I decided that we had to start making a change no matter how small and even if it meant not being perfect. We would strive for progress, not perfection. In that spirit, I am proud to announce our Plastic Free Optionality initiative. What does this mean? It means that Native is committing to provide a Plastic Free option for every single product we sell, while still delivering the highest quality products at affordable prices, without compromising usage experience.
We are also committing to donating 1% of Plastic Free sales to nonprofits specializing in environmental stewardship. Our goal is to put back into the environment what we take out of it. We know we have work to do and are committed to reducing our impact on the planet. These are lofty goals, but it is work our team is excited to do.
Plastic Free was an idea that came from you, our customers. Now it’s up to you to keep the ball rolling. Keep asking for improvements, keep sharing feedback, and keep supporting products that are striving to make progress.
